Warning: I will have to say first, that this is a rant after a discussion I had with my sister. This rant will offend people, especially state/county workers. Stop reading if you're strongly against the will be imposed wage cut, or if you're living with cats.

I have been rolling in my bed for at least half an hour. I am dead tired, but I cannot fall asleep. For the past hour, I have been thinking about what my sister and I had discussed, and why my sister got so emotional over the whole deal. This is what happened.
Around 10pm, my brother saw the new anchor casting about the new unfair wage cut for state workers. Worry that he was, he quickly told me what he have just saw. I have to tell him that I was not affected because I get my check from the county. However, my sister is a state worker. Being a concerned brother that I was, I quickly messaged her. She then ensured me that some bank is going to reimburse some of the money, and she had nothing to worry about. However, the state probably going to cut off all temp employees, and she showed some disgruntle about the governor's decision.
I showed some disagreement with her concerns about the temp employees. Let me first give you a little background about my last few jobs. I was a sales when I was working at Fry's. At the end of each financial year, our boss told us to get ready to sell. During this time all the supply buyers from the state go out shopping because the need to spend all their budget before the year ends. This way, they will get the same amount or more next year. Then I quited Fry's and I was an office technician for the state, other words, a secretary. I worked with other departments in a cubicle environment. I OFTEN see and hear auditors FALLS ASLEEP on their desks. After that, I became a programmer for a county agency. I maintained database and created reports that funds other department. From this position, I met and worked closely with supervisors, coordinators, VPs and different administration staffs. They told me, and I have saw how people would prep their reports looking better, so they would get more money from the governments.
Really, please, STOP, STOP READING IF YOU'RE DISAGREEING WITH WHAT I'M WRITING.
Why am I telling you all these? How does ANY of this has any relation with the recent wage cut. Before I say anything more to offend anyone, remember, these state worker's wages are your tax dollars. They are YOUR money. Keeping that in mind, I will say that I DO believe, because of the the state union, state worker's work ethics are at their lowest point. They are not fear of being fired. Because of the state union, the quality of state worker's work is at its lowest point. I have saw workers being promoted by default. I have worked with people who are BELOW QUALIFICATION. So far below, that they cannot perform the tasks that they are hired to do. Instead, the state will hire more temp workers to reinforce the worker who is below qualification. An easy example would be this lady I have worked with when she was first hired. On her resume, it says that she is computer proficient, and knows Access. When I worked with her, she doesn't even know how to copy and paste. Now these are our tax dollars, going down the drain.
Most people would think that I'm a hypocrite. I'm just saying all these because the county was not affect by the new law. However, the governor did purpose a few million budget cut in for my current department. There were staffs that were also disgruntled, they went on a protest and reversed the proposal. I didn't attend the protest. I actually agreed to the budget cut. I believe that a little budget cut would get the auditor busy and prevent a few report altering, equipment stealing, money wasting act.
I know a budget cut is different from a wage cut. Since a full employed state work cannot be laid off, there are no other ways save a couple million dollars. Some people would purpose stop the over spending. How would you think that can be done? Calculate over spending would require more accountants. That leads to hire more internal auditors who are going to sleep on their desk and do nothing. A smart governor would know better.
Let's put you in this scenario: You had a nanny whom worked with you for 5 years. She is a single mom and depend on your salary for rent. However, due to a bad choice in a financial investment, you lost a lot of future money, and cannot afford the nanny anymore. The nanny begs you not to fire her, but you really cannot pay her. In this situation, what would you do? Being on a management position is not always fun and games. You will have to make choices that would affect lives. If you have not made a decision like this before, please, FUCK OFF. You do not understand how anyone would feel if they have to forceful become the bad guy.
The state has been under deficit for a long, long time. Its department has over spend the budget, not only on equipment, but on poorly new hires also. The state had tired to hire more auditors to minimize over budget, and its debt had double since the past year. My philosophy is, if plan A doesn't work, execute plan B.
Oh yea, working for the state DOESN'T FUCKING GUARANTEE JOB SECURITY, YOU SPOILED FUCKS. LIFE IS FULL OF UNCERTAINLY, YOU SPOILED FUCKS. THINK ABOUT ALL THE PEOPLE WHO GOT FUCKING LAID OFF BECAUSE OF THE BAD ECONOMY, YOU SPOILED FUCKS. AT LEAST YOU STILL GET SOME OF YOUR MONEY BACK, YOU SPOILED FUCKS.
I've tired to be professional, I guess I've tried my best. Am I feeling better? No. I'm waiting for an apology because someone called me ignorant.
